Ultimate Cursorby WPXERO

Get started

From install to a live cursor
in a few minutes.

Four short guides: install the free plugin, publish a cursor, add a background, and add Pro. Written for plugin v2.5.0. No code at any step.

Install the free plugin

Ultimate Cursor is free on WordPress.org and needs WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.

  1. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Search for “Ultimate Cursor”.
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. You land on the Ultimate Cursor welcome screen.

Publish your first cursor

One cursor, shown across the whole site. Most people are done in under five minutes.

  1. Open Ultimate Cursor → Cursors.
  2. Pick a preset for a one-click start, or choose a cursor type: Text, Image, Icon, Shapes or Animated.
  3. Use the Customize tab to set colours, size and borders. The preview on the right updates as you go.
  4. Click Apply, then Save. Open your site on a computer to see it.

Every effect on this site can be chosen in the free plugin. Pro adds the settings marked Pro on each effect page.

Add an animated background

Backgrounds are separate from cursors and optional. You can run both together.

  1. Open Ultimate Cursor → Background and switch on Enable Background Animation.
  2. Edit the background and choose Antigravity Particles or Light Pillar.
  3. Set colours, particle count, size and shape, then Apply and Save.

Backgrounds are decorative, so they are skipped for visitors who ask their device for reduced motion.

Add Ultimate Cursor Pro

Pro is a second plugin that works alongside the free one. Keep the free plugin installed and active.

  1. Buy a licence on wpxero.com. You receive the plugin zip and a licence key by email.
  2. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, then Install and Activate.
  3. Enter your licence key when asked.
  4. Open the cursor editor again: the Pro controls — Interactive Hover, targeting, more shapes and the settings for every effect — now appear in the same panels.

When both plugins have an update waiting, update Pro first and the free plugin second.

My cursor is not showing

Six things account for almost every case. The plugin has the same checklist built in: Cursors → “Why isn’t my cursor showing?”.

I am on a phone or tablet

Touch screens have no pointer to replace, so the cursor is hidden there by default and its scripts are not even downloaded. Check on a computer, or switch off “Hide Cursor on Touch Devices” for that cursor.

My device is set to reduce motion

Animated effects and backgrounds respect the reduced-motion setting of the visitor’s operating system. Turn that setting off to preview them, or change “Respect reduced motion” in the plugin.

I am looking at it inside a page builder

The cursor stays out of the editing screens of Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Bricks, Beaver Builder, Avada and Oxygen so it does not get in your way. Open the published page instead.

I use a cache or optimisation plugin

Clear the page cache after saving. Ultimate Cursor already tells LiteSpeed Cache, SiteGround Optimizer, Perfmatters, WP-Optimize and Cloudflare Rocket Loader to leave its scripts alone.

The normal arrow is still visible

That is the default: the custom cursor is drawn alongside the system pointer. Switch on “Disable Default Cursor” in the Advanced tab to hide it. Form fields keep their text cursor so typing stays comfortable.

A Pro setting stopped working

Pro settings need an active licence. If it has lapsed, nothing is deleted — renew it and the settings come back as they were.
